Amy resides in Wilmington, NC, where she sees maternity-related massage clients in her private practice, Peaceful Beginnings: Massage for Pregnancy, Birth & Baby®. She regularly offers Baby’s First Massage® classes to the public in a variety of venues. Amy also teaches private and group Nurturing the Pregnant Couple® workshops, training expectant couples to massage one another through pregnancy and labor. She collaborates with prenatal yoga teacher, Heather Till, to offer pregnant couples’ workshops focusing on yoga and massage techniques specifically for childbirth. Amy began her practice after graduating from Coastal Carolina Institute’s Massage Therapy program in 2002, originally seeing a wide variety of clients. From 2004-2008, Amy utilized her certification in Orthopedic Massage to treat many athletes preparing for and recovering from events, and healing from injuries. Also in 2004, she completed certification in Claire Marie Miller’s Nurturing the Mother® Fertility, Pregnancy, Postpartum, Infant and Labor Massage program. She began seeking out pregnant clients and teaching infant and labor massage right away. She learned about Teresa Kirkpatrick Ramsey’s work through Claire, happily becoming certified to teach Baby’s First Massage® in 2008. Through sharing this work with families, Amy has become deeply inspired to educate her community and beyond in the many important benefits of newborn massage. To that end, she has completed coach training in order to assist other teachers in their Baby’s First Massage® certification process. Amy believes deeply that if we can provide healthy touch through massage to newborns everywhere, our world will be a gentler, more loving place.
